I’m so happy when Smart told me that they will bring me again to Dinagyang, they also flew me to Iloilo last year and I really did have fun that’s why I did expect that this year will be better than last year and yeap…it was! Ilonggos really know how to live all out! Thank you to everyone who went to all the Smart events and partied with us! We all had so much fun! wooohooo!!! see you again next year? yes? yes!!!!!!
To give you guys a little bit of background, the Dinagyang festival is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines held on the fourth Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers. They celebrate the festival with many activities like a streetdance competition, parades, pageants and of course street parties and we all experienced that in our 3-days stay in Iloilo
of course the first official thing we did was eat at the famous Tatoy’s manokan! It’s always a must whenever you’re in Iloilo! They have the best fresh and baked oysters, native chicken and lechon in Iloilo! It’s also nice if you eat beside the beach, they have these little huts where you can eat and have your little feast!
Oh and Tatoy’s manokan already have their own resort! Ya’ll should check it out!
After having lunch we went to downtown Iloilo to ride the smart float! This is always my favorite part whenever I go to festivals with smart because you can really feel the festive vibes specially when you dance along with the marching band and when you wave back to the people (nangangampanya lang? lol)
We also had an online contest that time! All the participants have to take their festival selfies/groufies to win invasion tickets which is the biggest party in every festival!
Three of the best people in smart! Hello Yeg,Tob and Kim (We miss you!!!!!)
The dinagyang gang! Say hello to Michele, Ynnah Bonina aka These Damn quotes, Alyssa, Dave and me!
After the parade we went back to the hotel, freshened up and went to the biggest party — Smart Invasion! ALL I CAN SAY IS. WILD NIGHT. THANK YOU GUYS FOR MAKING IT ONE FOR THE BOOKS! I guess the pictures speak for itself!
Yeap, wild and fun night! I will always remember my nights in Iloilo! I swear!
On the last day we just roam around the beautiful city and visited the street dance competition. I love how creative filipinos are and every time I go here there’s always something new. I really don’t get tired seeing new and colorful costumes every street dance competitions and I just keep on coming back and get inspired more with all the creativity the ilonggos have to offer!
We ended our trip by visiting the famous batchoy which is located inside the Lapaz market, Netong’s Lapaz batchoy! It really is the best for me and I swear you guys need to drop when you’re there!
Again, I would love to thank my Smart family for bringing me to iloilo and all the ilonggos who partied and lived all out with us! THANK YOU!
Grabbed the Invasion photos from Smart.
